Malaria Pf/Pv Antigen

Malaria Pf/Pv is a rapid, qualitative immunoassay for the detection of P. falciparum specific histidine rich protein -2 (Pf HRP-2) and Pv malaria specific Parasite lactate dehydrogenase (pLDH) in human blood as an aid in the diagnosis of Malaria infection This test also used to differentiate the P. falciparum and the other malarial species. This test is very sensitive and rapid. Results are interpreted in less than 20 minutes. Test results are read visually without any instruments.

Malaria Pf/Pv is a membrane based two site immune chromatographic test ,which is coated with monoclonal antibody specific to HRP-2 of P. falciparum on the test line “1” and monoclonal antibody specific to pLDH of Pv malarial species on the test line “2”.The Control region “C” is coated with goat anti-mouse IgG.The test sample flows through the membrane after addition of running buffer, the gold conjugated monoclonal anti Pf HRP-2 and monoclonal anti pv pLDH antibodies complexes with proteins in the sample. This complex moves further on the membrane to the test region, leading to formation of pink/purple colored line on the test regions which confirms the positive reaction. samples. Absence of these bands on the test regions indicates no reaction. The unreacted gold conjugate and mouse IgG conjugate move further on the membrane at the control region and forming a colored line. The control line serves to validate the test result. No band at control region “C” indicates the test is “INVALID”.
